St Denys Church is one of three churches in the Parish of Stanford in the Vale with Goosey & Hatford, th eother two churches being All Saints Goosey and St George's Church Hatford. There are services at all three of our churches each month with the worship at All Saints and St George's being more traditional in style that at St Denys.
All Saints Church, Goosey
off Goosey Green, Goosey, Wantage, Oxon SN7 8PA
One of the undiscovered treasures of Oxfordshire, All Saints was originally a chapel linked to Abingdon Abbey. It is believed to date from the 13th century, and to have been the chapel used by the monks who kept the abbey's geese, on 'goose' island.
Tucked away in the corner of the green, it now serves the hamlet of Goosey, with its population of about 100.
We have two regular services here each month, there is Holy Communion (Common Worship Order 1 in Traditional Language) on the first Sunday at 8.30am and Evening Prayer (BCP) on the third Sunday at 6pm.

We also have a celebration for Harvest ,Festival and special services on Remembrance Day, Whitsun and Good Friday. We also have a very popular Family Carol Service before Christmas. Our services are normally traditional.
It is part of the combined parish with Stanford and Hatford, in Stanford our services are normally geared more for families and young people, but everybody is welcome to attend any service in any of our churches and in practice our congregations worship in each others' churches freely.

St George's Church, Hatford
off the B4508, Hatford, Faringdon, Oxon SN7 8QQ
St George's Norman Church which is 'chapel like', in having no tower or spire, stands on the site of a much earlier building, dating from Saxon times. Its prominent position is on a shallow bend in the centre of the village which is threaded by the B4508. Early English architecture is interspersed with original Norman craftmanship which is rather resplendent in the fine, carved doorway on the south side, the nave and chancel arch. Mentioned in the Domesday Book, Hatford translates into 'a ford beside a headland or hill'. The Norman font in St.George's probably witnessed the marriage in April 1555 of Anne Dudley the widowed Countess of Warwick, to Sir Edward Unton of Wadley House.
If locked, the key may be obtained from the Manor House, which lies a few yards beyond the church.
There is a service of Holy Communion on the second Sunday of the month at 8.30am. From April to September there is also a service of Evening Prayer at 6pm on the fourth Sunday of the month. All services are from the Book of Common Prayer (1662).
We also have a Carol Service every Christmas and special evening services for Harvest Festival and St George's Day.
